Solitude in Snowfall (original)
18″ x 18″
oil on canvas
2024
I know summer has barely ended and autumn is just beginning to unfold, but I find myself eagerly anticipating the calm of winter and the serenity that comes with a snowfall. As snow blankets the earth, it transforms the landscape, muffling the noise of the world and creating a cocoon of quiet. It offers an opportunity to slow down. Here, I represent a wolf alone in the snow-covered woods, navigating the solitude. I imagine the wolf's serenity as it walks, hearing nothing, not even the sound of its own footfalls. In a world that is complex, loud, and busy, I look forward to the cooler, shorter days of winter as my chance to slow down and find tranquility.
